2017 VW Golf R Changes, Price and Development

Volkswagen has launched their plans of releasing the seventh
generation of Golf R. The car is going to enter the auto world as 2017 VW Golf
R and will present elegant visual updates and high-performance features. It
will be released alongside Golf GTI and e-golf models. The German automaker is
known for its high-performance GTI versions and that is going to be the case
with the upcoming Golf R model. Expect revised exterior and interior designing
as well as better powertrain performance. Featuring a decent compact hatchback
styling, the upcoming VW Golf 2017 will attract the attention of both car
enthusiasts and regular motorists, thanks to its perfect mix of luxury,
comfort, optional upgrades and standard equipment.
2017 VW Golf R – Cosmetic Changes:
The new 2017 VW Golf R is going to adopt a streamlined body
designing. The front end will be distinguished by a revised bumper design
featuring larger intakes to enhance engine cooling. Consumers should also expect
the front fascia to come with altered grille, which supports the company’s R
signature logo. A new set of LED lighting system is also going to be
incorporated and it includes LED daytime running headlights and bi-xenon
headlights.
At the sideways, expect a cool mixture of black calipers and
side skirts. The rear end will also adopt the LED lighting technology on the
indicators. The car will ride on the usual assortment of 18-inch alloy wheels.
The sporty rear outlook is complemented by a twin dual exhaust system featuring
chrome finishing and redesigned diffuser.
Interior Design:
The upcoming Golf R offers more interior cabin space than its
predecessor, thanks to its increased width dimensions. The car is capable of
sitting up to five adult occupants with sufficient headroom, shoulder room, and
legroom. Comfort is complemented by quality leather upholstering on the seats.
The rear seats adopt light Nappa or dark leather upholstery while the front
seats come with dark carbon Nappa leather upholstery. The door trim panels will
be offered with a carbon Touch design.
The interior cabin also
appears sportier than the GTI models with updated infotainment system. Another
element of luxury and comfort is a 9.2-inch touch screen where most controls
are operated. The steering wheel appears sportier adopting 3-spoke styling with
R-logo embedded on the speedometer. Other standard features include navigation
control, climate control, and premium sound system with HD satellite radio, USB
port interface, Bluetooth smartphone and audio integration. The automaker has
also provided a perfect mix of driver assistance and safety features, including
parking assist, automatic braking system, and line departure warning system.
Others include premium safety belts and air bags.
2017 VW Golf R – Performance of Engine:
Under the hood, the upcoming generation of 2017 VW Golf R will
be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This powertrain
comes with redesigned cylinder heads and is capable of yielding up to 292 hp at
around 280 ft-lb of torque. It will be mated to a standard 6-speed manual
transmission which will send power to a four-wheel drive system (AWD). The
automatic transmission is optional.
In terms of acceleration, the 2017 VW Golf R is capable of
sprinting from zero to 60 mph per hour in just 5.3 seconds. Fuel economy
figures stand at 22 mpg for city drives and 31 mpg on highways. This translates
to a combined EPA of about 26 miles per gallon.
2017 VW Golf R – Price and Development:
There is still no official announcement of the exact release
date and price for 2017 VW Golf R. However, consumers are anticipating that it
will feature in the market towards the end of this year or probably in the
first quarter of 2017. It will go for around $37,000 as the base price.
