The future of technology in the automotive industry

Currently, cars
are capable of doing much more than the usual drive and park. The automotive
industry is working hand in hand with superior technology-based companies. This
will deliver the most advanced, safest and most comfortable cars out there. The
car industries are becoming factorized in many features of vehicles.  Cars are becoming large smart devices, with advanced
innovations braking capabilities, mapping technology for autonomous driving,
better fuel efficiency and vehicles as a service form of transportation.
There
are many ways in which cars are improving the lives of drivers and other
vehicles around them in terms of safety. In the future, the automotive industries
are expected to progress even further. This will take us even more also taking
us closer to a more connected and digitalized environment.
Below are some of the technologies expected
in the automotive industry shortly.
Predictive vehicle technology
Most manufacturers
are applying algorithms to automate the automotive process of setting up a
vehicle.  They use date such as cars infotainment system as well as application preferences.
Motor vehicles are already internet of things (IoT) devices connected to
smartphones, take voice note commands and changing the user interface.
This technology
can also be used in the form of sensors. It’s built in within a car and then informs
the owner whether or not the vehicle needs service from a mechanic. This all
depends on a car’s mileage and condition. The technology is hence, able to estimate
its performance and set up appointments on time. It can also inform the driver
on any safety hazards likely to occur linked with a malfunctioning car caused
by the origin.
More fuel efficient rides
The forefront of
the fuel-efficiency movement is Tesla. It is releasing a slew of electric and
hybrid vehicles which can take you for hundreds of miles with a single charge. Shortly,
more automotive manufacturers are likely to implement electronic vehicle
technology on their fold. It is expected to raise the sales figure earned from 2016
to 2018.
Electric vehicles price is also going down thus more affordable.
Automotive companies like Toyota are, therefore suggesting that investing in
fuel efficiency may soon be widely adopted globally.
Self-driving technology
Several cars
already have a semi-autonomous capability in the form of drive assisted
technologies.  Much has already been made
of autonomous driving technology. Some companies too, have been testing their self-driving
functionalities on open roads.
However, this technology is far quite away from
being widely adopted by all cars. Some of the related techniques in this
include automatic braking sensors, motorway lane sensors, mapping technology
which monitors blind spots, cameras in the front and back of the car, adaptive
cruise control as well as self-parking capabilities.
Also,
there are Cars – As- A- Service (CaaS), which is an upcoming car rental
service. The great thing about it is that no driver’s license is needed to have
its access. This will serve as a driverless Uber. Great minds in the tech of
the automotive industry have collaborated and integrated with other companies
to improve the way our vehicles operate nowadays. The rise of these
technologies will help in many ways like the reduction of carbon emissions,
clean break of banks (affordable) as well as increased security levels.
